The name Fraxel was taken from the fact that this procedure only works on a fraction of the surface of your skin. This is its advantage over traditional ablation methods: it only affects a certain part of your skin. It doesn’t have to be a blanket treatment. For example, if your left cheek has deep acne scars, you can have it treated without your right cheek undergoing treatment it doesn’t need. This has a short downtime, with very optimistic results compared to that of traditional peeling techniques where the healing process takes about 7-10 days.

Fraxel Complications WARNINGS

Fraxel has its share of possible complications. One of these is scarring and delayed-onset hypopigmentation. The latter has been one of the reasons why doctors have avoided this kind of treatment and opted for safer procedures which are way less effective. Complications that might arise depend on the depth of ablation. The deeper you get, the higher the risk for hypopigmentation. It also depends on the skills of your doctor, so make sure that you choose an experienced practitioner and not just the one who is cheapest on the market. However, there are rare times that even in the hands of the most competent doctor, complications might still occur because of a patient’s genetics
